Video File Playback

Often preinstalled software video players cannot handle all video files effectively. Anytime I am asked how to play a video file, I recommend the installation of the VideoLAN Client Media Player, commonly referred to as VLC. VLC is a player that can handle and display any video or audio file, and is simple to use for video playback. Two advantages to VLC Media Player are;

  • it is cross platform – meaning it works on Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, BSD, Solaris and others.
  • it can be installed as a portable version – which means it can be installed and run completely from removable media. For details visit PortableApps.

VLC is open source, and published under the GNU General Public License version 2. This means it is free to download and use for any personal or professional purpose.

Make your video playback life simpler, install VLC Media Player.
